Great app! But they’re slowly making features less and less accessible for non-subscribers.

Was good before the paywall
I used Howbout for a couple of years and absolutely loved it. I originally started using it with my family after I moved out, and eventually added friends as all of our schedules became busier and harder to coordinate. Frustrated
Like many others i am also a long term user of the app, i like that i find it easy to navigate and that it has a lot of features in its free version, however recently the change in colour categories has really made it hard to even continue using the app, due to not being able to match my colours to what they have been for years now, for me personally this makes it really difficult to read the app as i once did, i thought it was perfectly fine without the colour categories as...

A star rating is one number. The text has the reasons.
Every tile is one review. First the tiles are coloured by stars. Then each one is recoloured by what its text says, and the tiles that change are the reviews a star average hides: four stars with a complaint inside, five stars typed over an angry paragraph. In our study of 1.1 million reviews only 26% of four-star reviews were plain praise.
After that the tiles sort themselves by what the review is for (praise, a bug report, a complaint about a product decision, a billing problem, a feature request), and the last view lights up what stands out for this app, biggest first: its most common complaints, surprise charges, blame for an update, people saying they are leaving, and reviews that are waiting for a reply. The category averages next to the charge and update counts come from the same study.
